We in INSPIRE were so lucky and had the opportunity to contribute as ambassadors at the Oslo Business Forum «The New Normal» conference that was held 24th of September 2020.
Because of Covid-19, Oslo Business Forum arranged their conference digitally. We in INSPIRE were thus asked to help out as ambassadors at the conference. Our ambassadors were divided into various teams, such as logistics, customer service, speaker and stage support. We were further assigned different tasks within each team.
We are incredibly grateful that we had the opportunity to contribute to this conference. It has given us a lot of lessons that we take with us to our own implementation of our project that is being held 10th and 11th of March 2021.
Their Story
Oslo Business Forum is a trade fair and conference organizer, which organizes business conferences every year in the field of technology, marketing, management and digitization. In January 2016, the company was started by two BI students, Christoffer Omberg and Marius Røed Wang. The students had great ambitions to create Norway's largest business conference, and thus decided to put their studies on hold to follow this dream. Omberg and Wang invested NOK 500,000 each in the company and currently have 9 employees with office space in Oslo city center.
The idea of starting their own company came from the desire to invite Sir Alex Ferguson to the student project Inspire at BI Norwegian Business School Campus Nydalen. Because it required high costs, the project and the school did not have the capacity to take that risk. When they saw that this desire could not be realized, they took matters into their own hands. They then booked Ferguson for their own business conference which was held on 17th of November 2016 at Oslo Concert Hall with 850 audience participants. Since 2016, Omberg and Wang together with their team at Oslo Business Forum have arranged 7 physical conferences and arranged their first digital conference on 24th of September 2020.
Today, the company has grown to become one of the most important business conferences in Norway. In four short years, they have managed to get important and high-profile speakers on stage, including Barack Obama, David Cameron, Richard Quest and Dr. Werner Vogels and more.
The company aims to become the most significant business conference by 2025.
